Best Practices for Golf Grips
Women’s golf grips are an essential element in women’s golf equipment
and golfoutloud.com sought advice from
Jeff Robinson, PGA Instructor at
Capital Golf Center in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Jeff has over 20
years of experience assisting men, women and juniors with their golf
games. We asked Jeff for his tips on cleaning a typical golf grip.
Cleaning Golf Grips
Place warm water in a container. Be sure to use only slightly warm water; do not use hot water.
Dip the golf grip in the water, but do not soak it in the water.
The goal is to just get the grip wet enough so that cleaning powder
will adhere.
Apply a small amount of abrasive cleaner (like Ajax) to the golf
grip. Any cleaner that leaves behind a film may not be appropriate.
Using a plastic brush (never use a wire brush), scrub the grime and build-up from your golf grip.
Rinse the golf grip with water.
Towel or air dry each golf grip. Be sure the entire club is dry.

Before After
Cleaning grips monthly (or whenever they are starting to lose the tacky
feel) will help maintain your golf grips for optimum performance. If
you have any questions about cleaning your golf grips, consult a
PGA/
LPGA professional in your area.
